Recent ESG Regulatory Developments in the EU and Switzerland for Swiss Asset Managers

Swiss asset managers that are active in the EU closely follow the regulatory framework relating to sustainable finance in the EU. Two things are particularly important for them: firstly, to have all relevant regulatory developments on their radar, which is not easy due to the fast-evolving regulatory landscape; secondly to understand if and where the regulatory requirements might overlap between two frameworks and how to reconcile them. 1

Fast evolving regulatory landscape

More and more EU legislation affect Swiss companies that are active in the EU. We have been witnessing a fast-evolving regulatory landscape relating to sustainable finance in the EU; not only caused by new legislation but also by modification of the existing rules based on lessons learned in the past few years of implementation as well as the growing number of implementation guidance, opinions, Q/As from regulatory authorities and industry associations.
